Rauw Alejandro
Despacito was released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi in the year 2017 and was the number one streamed track in just 6 months. It was a combination of reggaeton and pop music that not only drew attention to Latin Music but also reggaeton. Billboard's Top 100 in 2015 had two tracks that were mostly in the Spanish languages, while the year in 2016 there were four. During the height of Despacito's popularity in 2017 however 19 predominantly Spanish songs made it into the Top 100 as well, and by 2020 there were 41 songs. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with a Spanish-language version in 2017. In the year following, the most well-known artists began collaborating together with reggaeton groups. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny to create MIA (2018), while Madonna worked on Medellin together with Maluma (2019). Certain reggaeton performers expressed their displeasure at the rise of popular music by 2020. But a new group, Rauw Alejandro wanted to maintain the growth and evolution of reggaeton. The group incorporated elements from different genres and electronic music.
