Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to 12 hungry kids who would grow in the same household, figured out very early on how to conquer of her difficulties by using her rich and imaginative imagination. Before she learned to write and read Dolly Parton was composing her own music. In 8 years, she had her very first guitar. At age 11 she started singing at the Knoxville Tennessee radio station. The same year she released her debut recording for Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. Her name was made on the local circuit while at high school, but always dreamed of having a bigger stage. After graduating from the high school in 1964, she moved straight to Nashville. Dumb Blonde was her first single to reach the top of the charts on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner's syndicated TV show required the services of a new singer by this point. Parton took the offer and in the year 1967, she signed to RCA Records in 1968 and became a member of with the Grand Ole Opry in 1969. The show ended in 1974, as her own releases such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene were out-charting their collaborations. Parton wrote I Will Always love You in honor of Wagoner in the aftermath of their breakup. The song reached the top of the charts at. The first time it made it to the top spot was in 1974.
