April Ross

April Ross has won more than one Olympic medal. She is one of only a handful of women beach volleyball athletes that have achieved this feat. Alix Klineman, competing for the first time at Tokyo's Olympic Games is hoping to secure her third gold medal. Ross is hoping to secure an Olympic debut gold, however, she also hopes for more. And at the age of 39, this could be her last chance to do so. She is still confident, however. Ross on NBC Boston, said that when the team performs consistently or well it could be able to win gold. It's also going to be the result of luck. Ross was born on the 22nd of October, 1982. She was raised in Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents as well as a her sister. In addition to participating in a variety of sport, she also attended Newport Harbor High School. In addition to the indoor game, she also played basketball and jogged track as a pre-collegiate athlete. She was clearly the best in the game of indoor volleyball. When she played in her college volleyball season as per her college biography she played as an outside-hitter, middle-blocker and setter. For her efforts she was awarded in 1999 as the Gatorade International Player of the year in Circle of Champions. In 2000, she received her the Orange County Athlete of the of the year for volleyball. Ross and Klineman formed their partnership in 2017, however, Ross had been a beach-scene star for years before. She actually won multiple major tournaments in the past with two different partners. among them an icon of volleyball. From 2007 until 2013 she played by Jennifer Kessy, who is the coach she is currently. Kessy as well as Ross proved to be strong on the international circuit, winning a 2009 world title with each other. The 2012 Olympic Games, they won a gold medal. The legendary Misty Maytreanor team along with Kerri Jennings took home the gold. Ross Jennings replaced May-Treanor as she left the team. The pair took bronze at the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross was a college athlete with the Trojans of USC prior to her pro career. She played in high school, as well as before hitting the beach as a professional. The time she spent at USC was awe-inspiring. In 2000, she was voted Pac-10 Freshman as well as NCAA Freshman Of The Year. She was also named an All-American. Additionally, she was one of the key players in helping the Trojans reach their way to the Final Four. The Trojans suffered a significant personal defeat in her sophomore year yet was able to achieve the All-American distinction. In her two final years with the Trojans she was instrumental in helping them win consecutive championships. In 2003-2004, she was named the top female volleyball player on the collegiate scene in the United States through the Honda Sports Award. Ross was a student at USC in International Relations. Unfortunately Ross mother Margie was not able to witness Ross's daughter reach the very top of beach volleyball fame. Ross's mom passed away due to cancer of the breast when she was in her sophomore year at USC. She continues to cherish her mother who died. Margie has been an inspiration in her life and on the beach.
